The Kanban method is one of the lightweight agile methods. It was developed at the Toyota production plant in Japan and used to improve productivity in production lines at the plants. The method was adopted to manage the maintenance of software systems and subsequently to manage large development projects. The method is one of the tools used by the Scaled Agie Framework for Lean Enterprise (SAFE®), the most widely used agile method for developing large projects and product lines.

The Kanban method is based on:
• Visualization of the workflow
• Limiting of Work in Progress
• Measurement and workflow management
• Defined policy
• Continuous improvement

Using the method improves the performance, shortens schedules and consequently increases the satisfaction of the customers.
In order to use the method effectively, it is necessary to map the process, to create a constant rate of input and output from the process, to define the limits of work in progress, and to define service contracts.
This interactive workshop presents the principles and the advantages of the method and enables the participants to practice its implementation. In addition, the workshop provides tips that enable efficient deployment of the method.
